Ofelia González, M. en L, is an SLP in Mexico. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from the University of the Americas in Mexico City, and a master's in Linguistics from the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro where she is a current student of the PhD Linguistics Program. Her master’s dissertation was a study of the relation between perception and lexical development in cochlear implanted children. Her current research is a study about emotional prosody perception in cochlear implant users
Over the last 16 years, she has acquired extensive experience working throughout Mexico in multiple non-governmental institutions and in private practice. She has performed diagnosis and treatment of receptive and expressive language disorders, aural rehabilitation, articulation, oral-motor functioning disorders, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and pragmatic language disorders mainly in children but also in adults. Nowadays she is an auditory-verbal therapist and clinical coordinator program in an ONG called Ándale para Oír, Padres de Niños Sordos A.C. in Querétaro México. She has special interest on working with hearing impaired children with an intervention approach targeted to reach the best outcomes for each individual, taking the best decision even oral or sign language depending on each case.
Ofelia has worked also as a university professor in Communication Disorders in the Instituto José David A.C. and Universidad del Valle de México and is a frequent presenter at workshops directed to parents, professionals and teachers related to language development in her community. Unlimited
