Maria E. Chisolm, M.S., CCC-SLP, is a multilingual speech-language pathologist, nationally recognized clinician educator, and the founder of Layers Consulting. With 18 years of experience, Maria specializes in serving culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) children and families across Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming, conducting assessments and delivering services that honor each child's cultural and linguistic background.
What sets Maria's professional development apart is that it comes straight from the field. Her clinical work with CLD families is the foundation of everything she teaches, so participants can count on content that's been used in real sessions, with real clients, in school and private practice settings.
Through Layers Consulting, Maria creates continuing education and community for allied health professionals. She hosts the CLD Peer Advisory Group, a monthly professional community where clinicians gather to discuss CLD practice, share cases, and deepen their work with diverse populations. She also leads the Private Practice Collective, where she translates business strategy into practical tools for private practitioners. Her courses and quick-reference resources have supported clinicians across the country in building more confident, culturally responsive practices.
Maria has presented at state and national conferences and earned her Bachelor's degree in Linguistics and her Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of New Mexico, where her love of language, culture, and Spanglish first took shape.
