Amy Miller Sonntag, SLPD, CCC-SLP, is a licensed and certified Speech-Language Pathologist. She earned her Doctor of Speech-Language Pathology from Northwestern University, her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Ohio University, and her BA from the College of Wooster. She joined the OSU Department of Speech and Hearing Science in 2015 and also serves as a faculty member in the OSU Assistive and Rehabilitative Technology Certificate Program.
In her clinical work, Dr. Sonntag supports a diverse population ranging from 18 months to adulthood, helping individuals with a variety of medical diagnoses enhance their communication abilities through augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). She teaches AAC coursework to undergraduate and graduate students across multiple rehabilitation disciplines, including speech-language pathology, occupational and physical therapy, rehabilitation engineering, and special education.
Dr. Sonntag provides clinical education and mentorship to graduate clinicians in the MA SLP program at the OSU Speech and Hearing AAC Clinic and contributes to research projects related to AAC. She currently serves as secretary of the USSAAC (United States Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication) Board, is a member of the USSAAC Disaster Relief Committee, and has presented at numerous local, state, and national conferences on AAC-related topics.
